Move over Garrison Keillor!
Move over, Garrison Keillor, A Prairie Home Companion’s got competition. THE READING ROOM is a new entertainment app similar to Audible that wants to bring old school radio entertainment back to the masses. The READING ROOM is a global book community created for the purpose of expanding the imagination and giving book lovers a chance to hear their favorite new books being read by professional voice talent in a serial format. Listeners will be able to tune in each week to listen to a few chapters of the featured book.
What sets apart THE READING ROOM app from traditional online radio shows is that listeners can stick around and discuss the chapters with each other and continue to engage other members of the community.
“We wanted something that people could take to the salon, on road trips, or even listen to as regularly before going to bed,” says spokesperson Dulce Lopez. “Launching before the holidays gives people a chance to tune-in while in the car as they drive and maybe have a touch of Christmas Story nostalgia from long ago when everyone sat around the radio listening to serials.”

How to Make a Website
“Technology has the power to make people less social or more social, it just depends on how you use it,” says Celeste S. Duckworth. “We want to help people use their imagination, connect with other people, and also help businesses get a leg up, as well.”
Currently, THE READING ROOM can be heard in several mature adult programs, therapy programs, and community engagement programs, but will be expanding as more requests come in for specific authors and stories. It will be completely funded by advertisements so the developers encourage anyone who would like to have their businesses community programs featured to reach out and contact them.
